Jazz Connection 12.13.09

Hey Everyone. This semester has been a great one for jazz at KWLC. Right now, we have the largest jazz staff we've ever had on Luther College Radio. An added bonus is that everyone is knowledgeable and really tries to put on a great show. I hope those of you who listen regularly have appreciated it, and if you haven't, I hope you will continue to listen because we've got nowhere to go but up.

As an end of the semester treat to ourselves, we (the 9 jazz DJ's at KWLC) decided to theme the entire weekend with an alphabet theme. Becuase our schedule is split up into three hour blocks, we planned on doing a song from an artists (named A-Z) during each of the blocks. We've come up with some great playlists. I hope you tune in. The music will cover all varieties of jazz, so hopefully even the most seasoned jazz fans can take something from the programming.

First up is Kate, Ben, and Clara (7am-10am Saturday Morning)
Then the Sunday Night Jazz Block with Amie, Me, and Jon (630pm-930pm Sunday Evening)
Finally, the Monday Night Jazz Block with Jake, David, and Joe (10pm-1am Monday Evening)

Tune in for these and more great programming at kwlc.

As for my part in all of this, my playlist for this Sunday is as follows:

J. 1. Keith Jarrett - The Melody at Night with You - I'm Through With Love
K. 2. Soweto Kinch - A Life in the Day of B19: Tales from the Tower Block - The House That Love Built

Q. 8. Ike Quebec - Heavy Soul - Nature Boy
R. 9. Kurt Rosenwinkel - The Enemies of Energy - Christmas Song
--More from the Kurt Rosenwinkel Quintet - The Next Step #1--

Merry Christmas Everyone. Thanks for listening to the show and all thats on KWLC. The programming will continue through then end of December, with a new schedule for the month of January and then another new schedule to take us through the Spring Semester.

Take care. I'll see you all soon.

Pete
